Help celebrate EARTH HOUR 2011 by joining with your neighbors and Village officials on March 26th as we join people around the world to make a difference and “turn off non-essential lights for one hour!

This global event, sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund, has grown tremendously in the past few years to become one of the world’s largest sustainability movements, calling on citizens around the world to make their voice heard and take responsibility for the earth’s future.

The Homer Glen Village Board passed a resolution in support of Earth Hour, realizing that the night sky is a natural resource and that light pollution interferes with that resource and is becoming a growing problem around the world. By joining in with people worldwide, business owners, village officials and your neighbors, you can make a difference by helping to reduce the affects of carbon emissions released into the atmosphere for one hour, or as this year’s motto encourages, do more and make a bigger difference. “Go beyond the hour”.

Mark your calendar and join the world on Saturday, March 26th by turning off non-essential lights at 8:30 PM, for one hour or more.
