Summer Stargazing Event 2011

Friday, July 8, 2011

9 pm to 11 pm

15800 W. 151st Street
Homer Township
Near the intersection of Gougar Road and 151st Street

(Rain date: Saturday, July 9, 2011)

The Village of Homer Glen and Homer Township hosted a summer stargazing event on Friday, July 8th, from 9 to 11 pm at the historic Trantina Farm in Homer Township. The event was coordinated by the Homer Glen Environment Committee.  Due to the outstanding success of previous spring and fall stargazing events over the past three years, this first summer observing event is to encourage even more residents to experience the beauty of the stars at night.

During this summer’s stargazing, constellations and celestial views that are not easily visible during the spring and fall will be highlighted thanks to the amateur astronomers from the Kankakee Area StarGazers, the Naperville Astronomical Association, and the South West Astronomy Observers Group.  These groups will have their large telescopes available for free viewing.  They will highlight astronomical beauties such as Hercules, Vega, Arcturus, the Corona Borealis, and even our own Milky Way Galaxy.

Experience Stargazing at the Trantina Farm and enjoy a warm summer night with the stars! Rain/cloud date is July 9th.

The Trantina Farm is located at 15800 W 151st Street in Homer Township near the intersection of Gougar Rd. and 151st St.  For more information call the Village of Homer Glen at 708-301-0632.
