Village of Homer Glen Fines Three Tobacco Establishments For Selling to a Person Under the Age of Eighteen

In September, an underage volunteer accompanied an undercover Will County Sheriff’s Deputy in unscheduled visits to determine if Homer Glen tobacco licensed businesses would sell tobacco to minors. Three Homer Glen businesses sold tobacco to a minor and were ultimately fined by the Mayor.

Village of Homer Glen and Homer Township Highway Department Secure Over $1 Million in Grant Funds for 151st Street and Parker Road Intersection Project

On September 26, 2012 the Village and Homer Township’s request for CMAQ grant funding of the 151st Street & Parker Road Intersection project was approved by the transportation committee. Village of Homer Glen’s Development Services’ Director Michael Salamowicz stated, “The intersection of 151st Street and Parker Road is one of the busiest intersections in the community, so there is a definite need for these improvements.”

Village of Homer Glen’s Package Liquor License Holders Sales to Minors Checked by the Will County Sheriff’s Department on Behalf of the Village

Recently, an underage volunteer accompanied an undercover Will County Sheriff’s Deputy in unscheduled visits to determine if Homer Glen package liquor licensed businesses would sell liquor to minors. The undercover operation resulted in 73% compliance from all eleven Homer Glen package liquor businesses.

Village of Homer Glen’s Annual Road Resurfacing Program Underway

Many residents in the Village of Homer Glen have noticed the preliminary concrete and drainage work that proceeds the resurfacing of their roads. On August 3rd, the actual paving process began. Weather permitting, the entire road improvement program should be completed in three to four weeks.

“The Village of Homer Glen has received a tremendous “AA” rating from Standard & Poor’s,” stated Homer Glen Mayor James Daley. “The Village sought the rating from S & P in anticipation of going out to market for bonds to fund water, sewer and other Village infrastructure improvements,” continued Mayor Daley.

The Village of Homer Glen has established the Business Incentive Façade Improvement Loan Program and the Business Incentive Non-Conforming Sign Replacement Loan Program. Both programs are available to existing Homer Glen businesses. The programs offer zero percent (0%) bridge loans to pay for business façade improvements and sign replacements.

Northern Will County Water Agency

The Villages of Homer Glen, Lemont, Romeoville, Woodridge and Bolingbrook would like to announce the formation of the Northern Will County Water Agency. The goal of the Agency is to stabilize and control water rate increases and to explore the feasibility of acquiring the Lake Michigan water transmission line which runs from Bedford Park to the southwest suburbs.

The Village's on-line posting of information and documents has earned the Village of Homer Glen the highest government transparency rating of any governmental entity in Will County as determined by the Illinois Policy Institute. “We are happy to see that the Illinois Policy Institute has recognized the Village of Homer Glen’s commitment to open, transparent government,” stated Mayor Daley. “The Village organization believes in transparency and we are committed to keeping and improving upon our already outstanding rating,” concluded the Mayor.
