Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Event – October 29, 2011

On Saturday, October 29, the Village co-hosted the 3rd annual HHW event with the Will County Land Use Department at the Hadley Middle School parking lot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  We had 396 cars come through the event with 38% (152 cars) from the Village of Homer Glen.  The other top five local governments in participation were: 8% City of Joliet, 7% Village of New Lenox, 7% Lockport Township, 7% City of Lockport, 6% Homer Township.

The following statistics are from the previous two HHW events hosted by the Village.

  • 2010 – 344 cars, 58% (202 cars) from Village of Homer Glen (rained all day)
  • 2009 – 675 cars, 50% (340 cars) from Village of Homer Glen (sunny day)

This event was possible because of the help of staff and volunteers. Village Manager Davis and Asst. to the Village Manager Parker were on site for the event along with Mayor Daley who greeted participants.  Homer Glen Emergency Management Agency staff and volunteers from the ROTC did a fantastic job of working with the participants, contractor and the Will County Land Use staff to make this another successful HHW event.
