Welcome to the New Heroes Trail!
Village’s new Heroes Trail begins in scenic Yangas Park, winding through several subdivisions before connecting to Culver Park. This section of the trail also links to Kingston Hills Park, the Homer Township Senior Activity Center, the Healing Garden and the Homer Glen Village Hall. An additional piece of the trail begins at Beaver Lake Drive, west of Bell Road. From here, the trail meanders southward through the ComEd easement, westward along Pin Oak Drive and southward along Golden Oak Drive before connecting to the main portion of the trail.
The Heroes Trail was constructed by the Village of Homer Glen with support from a federal grant. Construction on the project was completed in late 2011.

Village Awarded Grant for South Extension to the Heroes Trail System
In October of 2011, the Village was notified that it had been officially approved for a federal grant for the south extension to the Heroes Trail System. The $422,000 grant will fund a 1.5 mile extension of the Village’s trail system. Construction on the project is anticipated to be completed in 2014.
The south extension of the trail will run within the ComEd easement west of Bell Road from Martingale Lane to 159th Street. The trail will link several additional subdivisions into the Heroes Trail System. Other attractions along the planned south extension of the trail include: a connection to the existing Heroes Trail System, a connection to Welter Farm, and a connection to the planned Meadowview Park.

I-355 Veteran’s Memorial Trail
The Forest Preserve District of Will County and the Illinois Department of Transportation are working with other public agencies to develop a regional multi-use trail system along the I-355 Veteran’s Memorial Tollway. The trail will connect many miles of existing and future bike trails throughout Will, Cook and DuPage Counties.
