Scarecrow Walk and Contest

 

Build a scarecrow for display at Heritage Park! Individuals, families, organizations, and businesses can participate! Six-foot-tall cross sticks will be supplied to all registrants. There are 40 Scarecrow locations available to be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Registration/Entry Fee: The non-refundable entry fee of $15.00 includes a pre-made six-foot-tall cross sticks to mount your scarecrow. Registration and payment for this event is through the Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club Eventbrite listing and must submit payment by September 24, 2020. Register here!

Scarecrow cross sticks pick-up time and location: Reserved scarecrow cross sticks can be picked up at the Village Hall on Saturday, September 26 between 9:00 a.m. and noon, or thereafter at the Village Hall on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Scarecrow drop-off location and times: Scarecrows are due on Saturday, October 10 between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Please bring your completed scarecrow to the Active Core area of Heritage Park. The scarecrow on your cross sticks will be placed over a post pre-staked at the park. A sign indicating the name and builder of the scarecrow will be provided and installed. Village staff will determine the placement location and install the scarecrows.

Voting/Awards dates: Three prizes will be awarded: One “Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club Award” will be determined by judges from the club, and a 1st and 2nd “People’s Choice Awards” will be determined by an online vote. Winners will be contacted on November 2 to receive their prize.

Scarecrow Removal: Scarecrows can be removed by registrants on Sunday, November 1. Village staff will remove and discard the remaining scarecrows on Monday, November 2.
