Solar Eclipse – Monday, August 21
Have you made arrangements to view the solar eclipse on Monday? Or are you still looking for a place to gather and view the event? The Homer Township Public Library will hand out solar glasses on Monday, August 21 starting at 11:00 .m. There is a limit of one per person while supplies last.
Local Events to View the Eclipse
Forest Preserve District of Will County is hosting an event at the Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon. For event details click here.
Forest Preserves of Cook County will host an event at the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center in Willow Springs. For event details click here.
Joliet Junior College is offering students and area residents to view the event outside of the Event Center on the Main Campus. For more information click here.

Tips for Viewing the Eclipse
It is important to not look directly at the sun during the eclipse. The only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special solar filters, such as “eclipse glasses” or hand-held viewers. Please visit the links below for tips on viewing the eclipse safely.
