The Village has been a part of an electric aggregation program that resulted in substantially lower electric supply rates for Homer Glen residents. Under the program, ComEd remained the primary electric service provider while Homefield Energy supplied the electricity to our local residential and small commercial customers.
Recently, ComEd published their rate structure for the coming year. The first phase runs from June to October, at a rate of 6.195¢ per kWh. The second phase runs from November until May of 2017 at a rate of 6.315¢ per kWh. Both rates are lower than the 6.996¢ per kWh that Homer Glen residents are currently paying to Homefield.
The switching process is simple to complete. It requires a call to Homefield Energy at 1-866-694-1262, provide them with your ComEd account number and instruct them to switch your electric supply service to ComEd (or any other vendor of your choice). There is no penalty for switching to another electric supplier.
The following letter from Mayor Yukich was sent to all Homefield Energy supply customers over the past week
