Will County Division of Transportation (WCDOT) invites you to attend the open house public meeting to learn about the proposed improvements to 143rd Street between Lemont Road (State Street) and Bell Road. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Hadley Middle School.
Presently in preliminary engineering for the study of the proposed roadway improvements along 143rd Street from Lemont Road (State Street) to Bell Road, the WCDOT tentatively programmed the first segment of this project for construction in 2020 with subsequent segments to follow. The proposed improvement generally consists of widening and reconstructing from one lane in each direction to two 12' wide through lanes in each direction separated by a 16' wide mountable median with 10' flat areas at back of curb. Proposed right of way and temporary easements are required along the length of the project.
This second meeting will be an open house format for you to review the updated proposal and status of the project. The first meeting held in January 2014, introduced the study and all interested parties were given the opportunity to provide their comments or concerns. Since the initial meeting, the preliminary engineering study has progressed re-evaluating an/or addressing previous concerns.
A final opportunity for additional comments will be provided at a Public Hearing. Holding the Public Hearing is one of the last steps in the preliminary engineering process before completing the WCDOT study. After approval from IDOT is received, WCDOT will proceed with the plan preparation and land acquisition phase.
