Events season takes off with Kite Fest!
The 4th Annual Kite Fest was a huge hit with an estimated 2,000 visitors on May 13! The sky at Heritage Park was full of colorful kites on the perfectly windy day.
Chicago Kite was out with their big kites and trick kites. The Events team handed out the 75 kites they had within the first hour. Many brought their own kites or purchased them from Chicago Kite.
Food vendors were busy, some even ran out of items. More than 500 people stopped by the Homer Township Library's Bookmobile. The two face painters had a line all day. Cross of Glory had games for the kids. The Junior Women's Club (including Trustee Sue Steilen) passed out milkweed seeds. A representative from the Lakota Group, Janie Patch and Melissa King were on hand to help gather input from residents on the Town Center visioning.
Thanks to Parks and EMA for your help. A great kick off to events season!
